Business Meeting of the national agencies 'Youth in Action'

Thinking about a new programme…

The EU Youth in Action programme is managed on a decentralized level by National Agencies (NAs). The heads of the agencies meet up twice a year to improve the implementation of the Youth in Action programme and raise its quality. These business meetings have the following strategic goals :

  • supporting the role of NAs in the field of youth policy and coordinate their contribution to the developments on European and national level.
  • managing the EU-Youth in Action programme, contributing to its evaluation and future developments in the light of European youth policy
  • communication and networking, improving communication and stimulating mutual assistance inside the network of the National Agencies
  • creating links between the multiple activities in and from the network and gaining an overview of important developments in European Youth policy
  • developing a knowledge management strategy.
  • supporting the future development of the training and cooperation plan and of supporting measures

In the spirit of the Public Consultation that has been launched by the European Commission, DG EAC, on the future generation of programmes (2014 and beyond), the network of National Agencies wants to develop and communicate its vision and ideas on the new Youth in Action programme. The Business Meeting of the network in October 2010 has been planned to discuss this vision, resulting in concrete proposals and ideas from National Agencies. The next BM (Spring 2011, Budapest) will also be an opportunity to give a follow-up on the discussion.

The working group on Action 2.0., that includes the Co-group of the network and that has been given a mandate in the BM in Toledo (Spring 2010) has prepared the discussion during a meeting in Brussels at the end of August. It has planned the discussion in 3 stages :

  • A discussion on the aims and objectives of the future programme,
  • An exercise in designing actions of the future programme
  • A discussion on needed management features, structures and tools for the future programme.

From 19 to 22 October 2010, the three Belgian national agencies invite NA colleagues and experts of the EU Commission to the German-speaking Community. The programme will be prepared within the Co-group, the representative group of National Agencies.
