European Seminar on mobility of young people with fewer opportunities
European Seminar: Young People and Mobility, a Luxury?
This seminar has two different programme for two different target groups, with some common sessions. Download the full programme (.pdf)
Mobility projects: a right for all young people
Mobility projects are often not very well suited to young people with fewer opportunities and those living in disadvantaged situations. Yet, they could benefit a lot from those youth projects. The question is: How can we better support their participation in mobility programmes? Because mobility projects are a right for all young people, not a luxury.
What can you expect at this Mobility Seminar?
This seminar in Namur/Wépion will explore different approaches to projects that get young people moving, whether it is in their head, their community or internationally. There will be two parallel programmes (for different stakeholders) but with some common sessions.
Join the discussions and sessions about:
- obstacles to mobility projects for specific groups and solutions to overcome them
- good practices and approaches of different kinds of inclusive mobility projects
- systems to support inclusion projects with young people with fewer opportunities
- tools to improve the use of existing mobility programmes for young people with fewer opportunities
This will culminate in a series of statements and suggestions for different stakeholders (Member States, European Commission, Council of Europe, NGOs, etc.) in a non formal, creative and dynamic way (are you ready to be surprised?)
The debates and discussions will be enhanced by short movies, inspiring testimonies and experts. The workshops will be led by a team of experienced Belgian and international trainers.
Who is invited to participate?
Official delegations from the 50 signatory states of the Cultural Treaty of the Council of Europe will be invited to take part in the seminar, as well as Canada/Quebec – as well as representatives from European Institutions and European Youth NGOs.
Special about this seminar is that we don’t only invite representatives of ministries and National Agencies, but also young people and youth workers themselves!
Delegations should be composed of:
- one young person from a vulnerable background (with fewer opportunities, from disadvantaged situation) and who was/is involved in mobility project (implemented or not)
- one youth worker who will also act as a support person (and linguistic facilitator if needed) for the young person
- one representative of the Ministry for Youth
- one representative of the National Agency of Youth in Action Programme (if there is one);
