European Council of Ministers Youth

Last Friday Minister Pascal Smet chaired the European Council Meeting of Ministers for Youth.
At that occasion the ministers adopted a resolution, Council Conclusions and held a debate on Urban Youth in Europe.

Policy Agendas Children, Youth and Children's Rights

Today, at the intergovernmental EU meeting, Minister Pascal Smet presented the Belgian Presidency note: "The European and International Policy Agendas on Children, Youth and Children's Rights". In the presence of H.R.M. Pricess Mathilde, it was for the very first time that such an overview of agendas and frameworks was presented and discussed. You can download the Presidency on the page 'Europe de l’Enfance'.

Directors General Meeting.

Last Monday (4 October) the Directors General Youth from all EU Member States met in Leuven.
The European Commission presented the state of play within the flagship initiative Youth on the Move. After an exchange of views, an update was given on the progress in the implementation of the Renewed Framework on Cooperation in the Youth Field, which was adopted in November 2009.
The second part of the meeting focussed on tools and mechanisms for Knowledge and Evidence based Policy Development. 4 presentations were made.
Howard Williamson gave the perspective from a researcher, whereas Finn Denstad, Hanjo Schild and Koen Lambert highlighted initiatives from the European Commission, the EU-Council of Europe Youth Partnership and from the Salto – Youth Research Centres.
